Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Short answers to common questions about this tool.
What is photo metadata or EXIF?
Metadata is hidden information inside a photo file, including the exact location, camera settings and the time the photo was taken.
Does my phone add location to all photos?
On many devices, if location access is turned on, this information is added to the photo.
Is my photo uploaded somewhere for processing?
No. No file is uploaded, and everything happens entirely inside your browser, with no account required.
What is an embedded thumbnail?
The camera that takes a photo sometimes stores a small copy of the original image inside it, which may remain even after the photo is cropped.
Do social networks remove metadata automatically?
Platforms behave differently and you cannot rely on them, so it is better to remove the metadata yourself.
Why are iPhone HEIC photos not accepted?
This format is not supported directly, so you need to convert such files to JPEG before cleaning them.
