How do I create a menu and add it to the site?

Build a menu with links, then place it in the header or footer region.

You will have a menu of links shown on your site.

Before you start

You need permission to write content and a plan that includes menu management.

Steps

  1. Open Content → Menus. For the common ones press a chip such as + Create Header Navigation; otherwise press New Menu, type a Menu Title and a Latin Slug, then Create Menu.
  2. Press Edit on the menu.
  3. Press Add item, then in the panel choose where it goes (page, blog post, URL and so on). A picked page or post fills the Label with its title; edit it if you want a shorter one.
  4. Drag items to reorder them, or drop one in the middle of another to make a submenu.
  5. Press Save.
  6. If your header is a region, open Global Regions, edit the header and add a Menu element with this menu's slug, then publish.

What you will see

"Menu saved." The links appear wherever the menu is used.

If something goes wrong

  • The slug takes lowercase Latin letters, numbers and hyphens only; Persian characters are dropped.
  • Nothing is saved until you press Save, and removing an item has no confirmation (Undo works until you save).
  • Links to pages and posts follow address changes; typed URLs and store links do not.
  • Themes with a built-in header read the header, footer and mobile-nav slugs automatically.
