You will have the header, the footer and the menus reading in the second language.
Before you start
You need the Translate CMS Content permission or permission to write content. The site needs a second language.
Steps: header and footer
- Open Content → Global Regions.
- Press Edit Header. The Studio opens.
- In the overflow menu choose Translate, then pick the Language.
- Type the translations, press Save draft, then Publish.
- Repeat for the footer, and for any mega-menu panel you built.
Steps: menus
- Open Content → Menus and press Edit on the menu.
- Under the items press + Show Translations.
- In Menu Title Translations, each other language has a box for the menu's title. Below it, Item labels lists every item with a box for its label in that language.
- Press Save.
What you will see
The header and footer texts and the menu labels appear in the new language at that language's addresses. An item with no translation keeps its own label.
If something goes wrong
- Menu labels are saved under each item's own identity, so they survive reordering and re-applying a theme. Deleting an item deletes its translations.
- Links in a menu are given the visitor's language automatically: a link to
/aboutopens/fa/aboutfor a Persian visitor. Links to files and to the account area are left alone. - A menu label has no "Original changed" mark: re-check the labels when you rename an item.
- If you applied a theme with a second language, these are already filled in. See "How do I apply a theme and get a second language with it?".
