Bank accounts

Creating a bank account makes its ledger account; gateway money waits in clearing until you record a settlement; there is no edit or deactivate.

Accounting → Bank Accounts lists accounts (name with Default and Inactive badges, IBAN, currency, opening balance), searchable, with an Active-only filter.

Adding

Name, IBAN, currency, opening balance (with its date when not zero) and Set as default bank account. It creates a ledger account under assets using the first free code from 1051 to 1099 (1050 is the seeded Bank). A non-zero opening balance posts a real entry against Opening Balance Equity. Do not add a ledger account for the bank by hand.

No edit, no deactivate, no delete

There is no way to change, deactivate or remove a bank account, or to change which is the default. The "Inactive" badge and the pickers do not filter on it.

Gateway settlement

Money paid through a payment gateway lands in Gateway Clearing, not the bank. When the gateway pays out, press the settlement icon: gross amount, processor fee, date and description. The net goes to the bank, the fee to expense and clearing empties. It is refused if gross exceeds the clearing balance or the fee exceeds gross. Bank-transfer payments and manual invoice payments go straight to the default bank.

If clearing keeps growing, settlements are not being recorded.
