You will have removed a file, or got one back.
Before you start
Trash and restore need the delete permission; permanent deletion needs the purge permission. There is no "where is this used" check, so look at your pages first.
Steps
Move to Trash
- Click the file and press Delete asset, or tick several and press Delete in the bar. Confirm.
Restore
- Open the Trash tab, tick the files and press Restore.
Delete permanently
- In Trash, tick the files and press Delete permanently, then confirm.
What you will see
"{count} file(s) moved to Trash". Trashed files vanish from the library and from pickers.
If something goes wrong
- A trashed file stops loading for visitors at once, so images on live pages break. Restore it to bring them back.
- Permanent delete removes the file and all its copies and cannot be undone. It works only on files already in Trash.
- Nothing empties the Trash automatically.
- A bulk action handles up to 200 files; a selection is one page (48).
- "{count} stored file(s) could not be removed" means some storage was not freed.
