The list
Search matches title, slug and excerpt. Status filter: Published, Draft, Archived (no Scheduled option); dates filter by created date. 10 per page. Row actions: view the published post, Edit, Duplicate, Delete (to Trash). Tabs Active and Trash. Tick rows to Export or Delete Selected (up to 100). A banner warns if the active theme does not show the blog; you can still write posts.
Statuses and when a post is live
A post is public only when its status is Published, its date is not in the future, and it is not in Trash. Draft, Scheduled and Archived posts give "page not found".
- Published with a future date goes live by itself when the date arrives.
- Scheduled with a future date waits for a cron job on the server (every minute on standard installs). Scheduled with an empty date never publishes.
- Setting a stale old date on a draft and publishing it publishes immediately.
- If a post "is not there", check status, date, Trash, the theme setting and the two-minute cache; noindex only hides it from the sitemap and RSS.
Editor
Title, Slug (up to 180 characters, unique among non-trashed posts, filled from the title), rich-text body (cleaned on save), Excerpt (400 characters), Featured Image, Categories, Tags and Authors (the byline, in order). Those with the right permission can add a category, tag or author right in the editor.
SEO: Focus keyphrase, Meta title (about 60), Meta description (up to 160 advised), Social share image, Canonical URL and Hide from search engines (noindex). A published post with no category is filed under Uncategorized. With several languages, the Translations card holds title, excerpt and body per language (existing posts only). AI Draft generates a body from a title; applying it replaces the whole body.
Review
On an existing post: Submit for Review, then Approve or Request Changes (needs the approve permission). It is advisory: nothing stops you publishing, and you can approve your own post.
Duplicate, Trash, comments
Duplicate makes a draft "X (Copy)" with its content, SEO, byline and terms, not its comments or date. Delete moves to Trash and frees the slug; Restore fails if the slug was taken; Delete permanently removes the post and its comments. Posts have no revision history.
Cache
Public posts are cached about two minutes. Editing an author or category can take that long to show.
WordPress
Import from WordPress brings posts over from WordPress's export file, with their categories, tags, authors, photos, SEO and redirects from the old addresses. Export for WordPress writes this blog as a file WordPress's own importer reads. See WordPress import and export.
