Courses, the students enrolled in them, and everything in between.
The pieces
A course has modules, which hold lessons. Students reach it through an enrollment; cohorts schedule groups; bundles and memberships sell several courses; coupons discount courses; reviews and discussions are moderated; grading marks assignments; a certificate is issued at 100%.
Enrollment is what grants access
Buying does not; the enrollment does. An enrollment is Pending payment, Active, Expired, Cancelled or Refunded; only Active opens the lessons. Students without a portal account get a personal link by email (valid 365 days); signed-in customers use their session. Staff cannot enrol someone by hand from the admin; enrollments come from checkout, bundles, memberships, or the "Enroll in course" automation action.
Lessons can be locked on purpose
Per lesson: an unlock date, N days after enrollment (or after the cohort start), a single prerequisite lesson, or a free preview that is open to everyone. A locked lesson shows its reason in the sidebar and cannot be opened or completed by address. Gates must all pass.
Quizzes and assignments
Quizzes are marked on the server, all-or-nothing per question; the answer key never reaches the browser. A pass mark above zero blocks completion, and a passing retake replaces the stored score. Submitting an assignment completes the lesson at once: grading is a record, it never gates progress.
Progress and certificates
Progress is completed lessons divided by the current lesson count, worked out live, so adding a lesson lowers everyone's percentage. A certificate needs a live 100% and an Active enrollment. A course that was completed once keeps its completed stamp even if the percentage drops.
What it does not do
No access expiry date (access never lapses by time; Expired appears only when a membership ends). No manual enrollment screen. No student-visible grade or feedback. No coupon on bundles. No category pages.
Who can do what
Each screen has its own permission; most write actions also need a plan with LMS course management, coupons, reviews or memberships. Several screens show write buttons to read-only roles and let the server refuse.
