Page Templates lets you design the pages that plugins generate, such as the Blog archive and a single Blog post (the store adds its catalogue and product pages). It has nothing to do with the layouts you save for your own pages.
Slots and templates
Pick a page type from the list. Depending on the type you see:
- Slots (the blog types): Above Slot and Below Slot (some also Fixed Content and Sidebar Content). Each shows Published, Draft or Empty, with Design / Edit, Import preset, Save as preset and Clear slot. The built-in page stays and your content is added around it. Clearing a slot returns that position to the default.
- Full templates (some types): status Using default, Draft or Published, with Design, Import preset, Save as preset and Reset to default. A published template overrides the built-in page; reset deletes your design and cannot be undone.
Designing opens the Studio. Plugin-specific widgets (post title, post body, author card, related posts, product price and gallery and so on) are available only for the matching type.
Presets
Save as preset stores the current design under a name (up to 120 characters) so you can Apply it later, or on another site in the same install. There must be something to save. Presets can be deleted.
Need your own reusable layouts?
- Saved templates (in the Studio Templates panel) save a section or whole page and insert an independent copy. There is no per-site scope.
- Patterns save a block that stays linked: edit it once and every page using it updates. See Patterns.
- Global Regions hold the header and footer.
Permissions
Viewing needs cms.read; creating, resetting and importing presets need cms.write.
