How do I change or stop a webhook endpoint?

You will have replaced an endpoint's URL, events or secret, or stopped it.

Before you start

You need the Webhooks Manage permission. There is no edit, pause or secret-change feature, so this is done by deleting.

Steps

To change the URL, the events or the secret

1. Open Webhooks and add the new endpoint first (How do I add a webhook endpoint?), so there is no gap.
2. Update your receiving system to accept the new secret.
3. Delete the old endpoint from its row, and confirm.

To stop deliveries

1. Find the endpoint in the list.
2. Delete it and confirm.

What you will see

The endpoint disappears and no further deliveries are queued for it.

If something goes wrong

• Deleting also removes the endpoint's delivery log. Note anything you need first.
• Events already queued for a deleted endpoint are dropped without a log row.
• A new endpoint gets a new, separate log; it does not carry history across.
• To rotate a secret with no gap, run both endpoints for a while, with your receiver accepting either secret, then delete the old one.
