How do I check an email before it goes out?

Use the live preview, and know what it does and does not show.

You will have seen what an email looks like with your changes, before saving it.

Before you start

You need the View permission to see the preview and Manage to save.

Steps

  1. Open Email Templates and choose the template and language.
  2. Edit the subject, preheader and blocks. The preview beside the editor redraws about a third of a second after you stop typing.
  3. Read it against the variable chips: every {{variable}} should show a sample value, not disappear.
  4. Press Save only when it looks right.

What you will see

The preview shows your unsaved draft with sample values, built by the same engine as real emails.

What the preview does not do

  • It always uses the dark email frame, and has no desktop/mobile switch.
  • It has no footer link.
  • It uses sample values, not real customer data.
  • There is no test-send button, so you cannot send yourself the email. To see a real one, trigger the action that sends it (for example, a test booking or a sign-in code), after saving.

If something goes wrong

  • A variable that is empty in the preview will be empty in the email.
  • Changes apply to the next email sent.
