Revenue

The monthly chart shows money collected while the status table shows invoiced amounts — the two do not add up, and should not.

When money arrived, from whom, and how long it took.

Two numbers that are not the same number

This page puts two different things side by side, and if you read them as one they will never reconcile:

  • The monthly chart and the total revenue figure are built from real payments minus refunds: money that arrived, in the month it arrived. A refund reduces the month it was made.
  • The status table adds up the invoices themselves, drafts and cancelled ones included: what was billed, not what was collected.

So an invoice that was issued and never paid appears in the status table and not in the monthly chart. That gap is correct, not an error.

Months are counted by when the money arrived

Each payment counts in the month it was received, not the month its invoice was issued.

An invoice raised in March and paid in June is June's revenue. So a busy month on the chart may mean you sold well that month — or that you collected on old debts.

The chart covers the last twelve months.

The averages only see paid invoices

"Average days to payment" is worked out only from invoices that have been settled in full.

An invoice sitting unpaid for six months is not in that average — which makes the number optimistic: it tells you how quickly the things that got paid got paid, not the state of what you are owed.

Top contacts are ranked by money collected

The top-ten list shows two columns, collected and invoiced, and is ranked by collected. A customer with one large unpaid invoice does not top it.

Other cards

  • Avg invoice value: the average billed total of paid invoices (billed, not collected).
  • Invoices paid rate: paid divided by paid plus sent. Overdue and partly paid invoices are not in it.
  • Average days to payment: counted from the day the invoice was created, not its due date.
  • MRR: read from store subscriptions. Each bar is the monthly value of the subscriptions standing at the end of that month (yearly plans divided by 12, quarterly by 3, weekly times 4); a cancelled subscription stops counting from its cancellation. "Current MRR" is the latest bar.

All currencies are added together on this page and shown in the site currency.
