Content covers Pages, the Page Builder (Studio), Global Regions (header and footer), Patterns, Menus, Page Templates, the Blog (posts, authors, categories, tags, comments) and the Content Dashboard. The site's brand identity is no longer managed here.
Draft and published
A page body has a draft and a published copy. Save writes only the draft; Publish copies it to the public copy. A half-edited published page stays as visitors saw it. Two things go live at once on Save: Page Settings (title, address, parent, SEO, noindex), and Patterns, which have no draft step.
The dashboard
Customisable KPI cards: Published Pages, Published Blog Posts, Draft Pages, Pages, Studio templates, Media assets and In review. Below: recently updated pages, media storage and a review queue. The review queue is always empty today, because no screen submits a page for review.
What staff can and cannot do in the screens
The Content screens let you create, edit, duplicate, trash, restore and permanently delete pages, edit page settings, restore versions and save checkpoints in the Studio, and publish. Some capabilities exist only in the API and have no screen: scheduling a page, archiving, unpublishing (the only way to take a page down is Trash), page translations and the page review workflow.
Scheduling
A blog post can be published later by choosing Published with a future date (it goes live by itself) or Scheduled (it needs a cron job on the server to flip it). A scheduled post with an empty date never publishes.
Permissions
cms.read, cms.write (all edits), cms.delete, cms.pages.purge, cms.review.approve, cms.dashboard.read, plus blog keys cms.blog.delete, cms.blog.purge, cms.blog.moderate, cms.taxonomy.manage and cms.authors.manage. Administrators and editors have all of them. Writes also need plan features (pages, menus, blog, restoring versions), and custom HTML needs a premium plan and is blocked during the free trial. Several buttons stay visible to people who lack the permission and give an error instead.
