You will have applied a theme in one language and have the same theme's texts ready in a second language.
Before you start
- You need permission to edit content and the site-settings Edit permission.
- Your plan must include more than one language.
- The theme must come in both languages (the English and Persian starters do). If it does not, the option is not shown.
Steps
- Open Site Settings and choose Theme.
- Find the theme and press Apply.
- In the confirmation, tick Also install the (language) version as a second language of the site. It is off by default; the language shown is the theme's other language, written in that language.
- Choose what else the theme may replace (home page, brand colours) and confirm.
What you will see
The theme is active in its own language. The other language is added to the site's languages, and the header, footer, menus, home page and the theme's pages each have that language's texts as a published translation, so /fa already reads in Persian.
If something goes wrong
- The option only adds. A text that already has a translation in that language is kept, so applying again never overwrites a translator's work.
- If your plan does not allow a second language, or the theme has no version in that language, nothing is replaced and you are told why.
- Pages you create yourself are not covered: translate them in the Pages list.
