Suppressions

Addresses that never receive marketing messages, how they get there, and what removing one means.

Marketing → Suppressions lists addresses and phone numbers that campaigns must skip. Email and SMS are separate lists.

How an address gets here

  • A recipient follows the unsubscribe link in an email (reason: user request). The link works without signing in and has no expiry; the page shows a confirm button and unsubscribes only when it is pressed, so a mail scanner that opens links cannot unsubscribe anyone. Campaign emails also carry the one-click List-Unsubscribe header that Gmail and Yahoo show as an Unsubscribe button.
  • An admin adds it with Add suppression (reason: admin).
  • A bounce or a complaint adds it automatically, only when the Resend webhook is set up with its secret. With any other mail provider nothing is added.

Emails are lower-cased and trimmed; phone numbers keep digits only.

Removing

Remove puts the person back in future campaigns. Do it only if they asked to be subscribed again.

Things to know

  • Adding an address that is already listed, or an SMS number with no digits, shows success but writes nothing. The email field is not checked for being an email.
  • There is no unsubscribe for SMS.
  • Filter by address, channel and source; 10 per page.
