Accounting holds the general ledger. Invoices, orders, payments, bills and cheques eventually become journal entries here.
Accounts
Two levels: groups (assets, liabilities, revenue, expenses) and ledger accounts, the only ones entries post to. For per-customer or per-supplier balances there are analytic dimensions attached to journal lines; Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable require one. There is no screen to rename or deactivate an account or to create a new dimension.
Entries
A journal entry is a Draft, Posted or Reversed. A draft cannot be edited at all (post it or delete it). A posted one is never edited or deleted in the application; you correct it by reversing it. Entries need an open period in a fiscal year.
Most entries post themselves
Sent invoices and their payments, confirmed store orders and subscriptions, bills, cheques, bank opening balances, bookings, course enrolments, purchase orders and affiliate commissions all post their own entries. Manual entries are for adjustments. When an automatic posting cannot happen it is recorded on Posting Failures.
One currency
The ledger is in the install's currency only. A document in another currency is refused and listed under Posting Failures. On a Toman site amounts are shown in Toman but stored in Rial.
Who can do what
Seeing the pages needs the view permission; creating and posting entries, bills, cheques and bank accounts needs write; deleting drafts, accounts and fiscal years needs delete; closing needs close; reconciliation and reports have their own permissions. Plans gate writing, reports and reconciliation separately. The pages show every button and let the server refuse.
