SMS Templates

How do I change the wording of a text message the system sends?

Pick the template and language, edit the message and save your own version.

You will have replaced the wording of one automatic text message, in one language.

Before you start

You need the Manage permission for SMS templates, and Manage must be in your plan. This page does not exist on installs whose default language is Farsi.

Steps

  1. Open SMS Templates and pick the template on the left. Search covers its name, group and key.
  2. Choose the language.
  3. Edit the message body (up to 1000 characters). Use the variable buttons, such as {{orderNumber}}, to add live details; they are added at the end of the text.
  4. Check the preview, which fills the variables with sample values.
  5. Press Save.

What you will see

A dot appears next to the template for that language, showing you have saved your own wording. The next message uses it.

If something goes wrong

  • Save is disabled until you change something, and the body cannot be empty.
  • A variable that is misspelled or not on the list becomes empty text. Compare with the preview.
  • Writing a template does not switch SMS on. Check that the feature sends texts (for refunds, Invoices → Settings) and that Site Settings → SMS has a provider that can send ordinary messages.
