Site Settings

Every site-wide setting lives on this page; some tabs are contributed by other modules, and a missing tab almost always means a missing permission.

Each install has one site, and every setting that applies to the whole of it is gathered here: language and format, branding, theme, social, domains, advanced settings, and outside services such as payments, email, SMS and live chat.

The Overview tab itself is a read-only summary: the logo, the primary domain, the theme, default language, currency and calendar, and a card for each tab you may open. The site title and tagline are edited under Branding.

Tabs come from different modules

This page does not own all of its sections. Payments comes from the Store, the mail server and mailboxes from the Inbox, portal access from CRM, and "Send a notification" from Notifications. Each module adds its own section to the relevant tab.

A section is shown only to someone allowed to see it, and a tab with no section you can see is left out of the side list altogether. So if a tab is missing, the likely cause is access, not a missing feature.

Three levels of access

  • View to open the page and see the settings.
  • Edit to save language, regional format, social links, search indexing, verification tags, breakpoints, custom code and the other ordinary site settings.
  • Manage domains and credentials for domains, SMS, social OAuth apps, customer sign-in, plugin mailboxes, email recipients and importing content.

The built-in Admin role holds all three. A custom role gets only what it is given, and the third level can be handed to staff roles like any other permission. If a colleague cannot see Domains or SMS, check their role.

Seeing a section is not the same as saving it

Some sections check another module's permission when you save:

  • Branding and Theme need permission to edit content (the page builder), and Branding also needs the content plan feature.
  • Maintenance mode and permalinks need permission to edit content settings, plus the same plan feature.
  • Payment gateways are saved with either of the site-settings Edit or Manage permissions, or the Store's own settings permission.

The Save button is not always greyed out for someone without that permission; the server refuses the save instead. If a save is refused, check the permission of the module that owns the section.

Secrets are not shown again after saving

Credentials are stored encrypted. After saving you see only a "Configured" status and a masked preview, never the value itself. To change them, enter every field for that service again.

Visit Site opens the primary domain

The "Visit Site" button at the top of the page and the domain shown on the overview are both the primary domain, which is set on the Domains tab. With no active primary domain, or on a local development address, it opens the home page of the address you are on.

Language & FormatThe site's default language is not only what visitors see first; it also decides which payment gateways and SMS providers are offered.Languages and addressesWhat a visitor sees at each address, how the site picks a language for them, and what Clean URLs change. What is translated and what is notWhich parts of a multilingual site follow the visitor's language, which follow the buyer's, and which are the same everywhere.BrandingThe site's name, colours, logo, favicon and the seller identity printed on invoices all live here, and one Save button saves them together.ThemeApplying a theme can replace the home page and reset brand colours, and the visitor dark-mode switch does not appear until you place a toggle widget.SocialSocial links are plain public URLs; the OAuth apps below them are credentials for posting on your behalf, and are separate from customer sign-in.DomainsThe primary domain cannot be removed or deactivated; make another domain primary first.Advanced SettingsA verification meta tag (Enamad, Google Search Console) belongs under Site Verification, not in the custom JavaScript field, and custom code is switched off during a free trial.EmailFour sections from two modules: the outgoing mail server and mailboxes belong to the Inbox, forwarding and recipients to Site Settings, and an empty recipient list switches that notification off.SMS ProviderA test SMS is really sent and really costs money, and a pattern-only provider sends a one-time code instead of the test text.Live Chat & ChannelsThe live chat widget and the contact channels visitors see; WhatsApp and Instagram are connected per signed-in user, and business hours and auto-assign are not built yet.Customer AccountsHow customers sign in to the portal: Google sign-in credentials here, and the email and SMS channels the portal needs, which decide whether anyone can sign in at all.Import & ExportMove pages, blog posts, products and media between installs, or back into the same one, as a single zip file; it does not carry settings, customers or orders.
