You will have kept a page out of one language, or hidden one element on it in that language only.
Before you start
You need the Translate CMS Content permission or permission to write content.
Steps: leave the whole page out of a language
- Open the page's translation editor (Pages list → Translate) and choose the language.
- Tick Do not offer this page in this language.
- Press Publish. It takes effect when you publish.
Steps: hide one element in a language
- In the same editor find the text of the element.
- Tick Hide in this language.
- Press Save draft, then Publish.
What you will see
- For an excluded page, visitors in that language get a "not found" page, and search engines and the Language Switcher leave it out. A preview inside the editor still shows the page.
- For a hidden element, the page shows without that element in that language and with it in the others. Only elements that carry text can be hidden this way; hiding a whole container is not offered.
If something goes wrong
- Unticking and publishing brings the page back.
- Excluding works for pages only.
- Hiding an element and translating it are separate: a hidden element's translation is kept in case you show it again.
