How do I moderate blog comments?

Approve or reject pending comments, and handle spam and replies.

You will have decided which comments the public sees.

Before you start

You need the permission to moderate comments. Nobody is emailed about new comments, so check the page regularly (admins get a bell alert).

Steps

  1. Open Content → Blog Comments. It opens on Pending.
  2. Read each comment (author, post, text).
  3. Press Approve to publish it, Reject to hide it, Mark as spam, or Delete to move it to Trash.
  4. For many at once, tick rows and use Approve, Mark as spam or Delete Selected (up to 100).

What you will see

"Comment updated." Approved comments appear under the post.

If something goes wrong

  • There is no Rejected tab: a rejected comment disappears from every tab.
  • Comments with more than 2 links or blocklisted phrases arrive already in Spam.
  • Moving a parent to Trash keeps its replies visible as top-level comments, but deleting a comment permanently deletes its replies (the purge permission is needed, from the Trash tab).
  • Only signed-in portal customers can comment; the commenter is never emailed about approval.
