How do I sell a product with sizes or colours?

Make a variable product, attach attributes, and generate its variations with their own prices and stock.

You will have a product customers buy in a chosen size or colour.

Before you start

The attribute (for example Colour) and its values must exist under Store → Attributes. A Number attribute cannot be a variation.

Steps

  1. Open the product and set Product Type to Variable; save.
  2. Open the Attributes tab, add the attribute, tick its values, and switch on Used for variations. Press Save Attributes.
  3. Open Variations and press Generate Variants.
  4. Expand each variation to set its Price, Sale price, SKU and stock. Set one variation as Default if you want it pre-selected.
  5. Press Save.

What you will see

One card per combination. The storefront asks the buyer to pick every attribute before Add to Cart works, and shows the price range on listings.

If something goes wrong

  • New variations start at the product's regular price; edit each one.
  • Generating again only adds missing combinations; it also removes blank manual variations.
  • A disabled or deleted variation vanishes from the storefront.
  • Duplicate combinations are flagged on the cards and refused on save.
  • The variation low-stock threshold is not saved; the product's threshold is used.
