You will have items that the store shows in the shopper's language, field by field.
Before you start
- The site needs a second language.
- You need Translate Catalogue (
ecommerce.catalog.translate) or the permission that lets you edit that kind of item (products, categories and brands, attributes). The tab is hidden when the site has one language or you may not translate that kind. To open the product pages at all you also need the read permission for them.
Steps: a product
- Open Store → Products and edit the product.
- Open the Languages tab.
- Pick the language chip. A check on the chip means the language's main fields (the name and, if the product has one, the description) are all translated.
- Under the original text of each field write the translation: Name, Short description, Description, Button text, Search title, Search description, Warranty and, if used, the Upload label and Upload instructions.
- Press Save for that language. Only the fields you changed are sent.
- The same tab lists each attribute you typed on this product, and its values, so you can translate them too.
Steps: category, brand, tag, attribute, shipping method
- Open Categories, Brands, Attributes (shared attributes and their values are translated once, here) or Tax & Shipping (shipping methods).
- Edit the item. The window has a Details | Languages switch: choose Languages.
- Write the translation and save; Close leaves the window.
What you will see
The storefront shows the translated name, description, categories, brand and attribute names for a shopper in that language (/fa/store/products/...); a field with no translation shows the original. Search works in the shopper's language, and Arabic and Persian yeh and kaf, a half-space, and Persian digits are treated as the same letters. A product is listed for a language in the language links and the sitemap once its main fields are translated. Otherwise that language's address points to the default one.
Orders: a product's line on an order made in that language is saved with the translated name, and staff still see the original beside it. Emails, SMS and PDFs follow the order's language.
Merchant feeds: add ?locale=fa to the address you give Torob or Google Merchant Center to list the catalogue in Persian with /fa/store/products/... links. One address per language.
If something goes wrong
- Source changed: someone edited the original after you translated it. Press Still correct or rewrite it.
- Clear removes a field's translation; the original shows.
- Slugs (the product's web address) are not translated.
- Saving a product's attributes keeps the translations of its own values.
- Translate with AI and Mark reviewed are on the same tab; see "How do I translate with AI and review the result?".
