You will have emailed a finished invoice to your customer.
Before you start
You need permission to edit and to send invoices, a draft invoice, and an email address on it.
Steps
- Open the draft invoice.
- Under Line Items, fill New Item with a description, a whole-number quantity and the unit price, then press Add Item. Repeat for each item. The tax line and total update by themselves.
- Check the Summary card. To change the tax rate or due date, use More actions → Edit.
- Open More actions → Send, and confirm "Email this invoice to…".
What you will see
The invoice becomes sent and the customer gets an email with the PDF attached, in the site's language. A success message names the address.
If something goes wrong
- Items can only be changed while the invoice is a draft. Prices cannot be negative. To give a discount, use + Add discount on the item (an amount or a percentage, with an optional reason), or Invoice discount under Edit for the whole invoice; it comes off the subtotal before tax. A discount larger than its item or the subtotal is refused.
- Send is disabled with no client email.
- If the email cannot be delivered you get a warning, but the invoice is already marked sent. Fix the mail settings and press Send again; sending an already sent invoice does not change its status.
- Paid or cancelled invoices cannot be sent.
