Notifications

How do I send an announcement to all my customers?

Send a message to every portal customer by web push and in their portal feed.

You will have sent one message to every customer who can sign in to the portal.

Before you start

You need the Write permission for notifications. A broadcast cannot be recalled, so proofread first. Write it in the language your customers read: it is stored in one language for everyone.

Steps

  1. Open Site Settings and choose Notifications.
  2. Set Audience to all customers.
  3. Choose the channel. Web push is the default; email is not available for a broadcast.
  4. Choose the event type: announcement, maintenance or account.
  5. Write the title (up to 200 characters) and the message (up to 2000).
  6. Press Send. Read the confirmation, which shows how many customers and devices will be reached, then confirm.

What you will see

A line tells you how many devices accepted the push, how many were removed because they were dead, how many failed, or that there were no devices. The form clears. Every customer gets the message in their portal notifications.

If something goes wrong

  • The web-push option is disabled when the site has no push keys; ask whoever runs the server. You can still choose the in-app channel.
  • Push reaches only customers who turned it on in their portal profile and allowed it in their browser; everyone else sees the portal copy.
  • Send is disabled until title and message are filled in.
  • Nothing limits how often you can send, and you cannot undo it.
