How do I find a text I see on screen?

Search by the English wording or the key, because search does not look inside translated text.

You will have found the row for a text you saw somewhere in the panel or on the site.

Before you start

You need the View Translations permission.

Steps

  1. Open Translations and choose the language you saw the text in.
  2. In Search, type the English wording the text came from, or part of its key. If you are unsure of the English, try a distinctive word.
  3. If there are too many rows, choose a Namespace to narrow it (for example a plugin's own namespace).
  4. Read the English source column to confirm it is the right row, then press Edit or View.

What you will see

The list shows up to 100 matching rows with their key, the English source and what users currently see.

If something goes wrong

  • Search does not look inside the translated text. Typing a Farsi phrase you see on screen finds nothing; type the English wording instead.
  • If the list says there are more rows than are shown, narrow it.
  • A text that is not in the list may sit in a namespace that cannot be edited, or be nested in a sub-category.
