How do I give a user permissions their role does not include?

You will have given one person an ability on top of their role, for them only.

Before you start

You need permission to manage users, and you must hold the permission you want to give. Platform-operation permissions can never be given this way by a tenant administrator.

Steps

1. Open User Management and press Edit on the person's row.
2. Find the Custom permissions card.
3. Tick the permission you want to add.
4. Save.
5. Check the Granted permissions card, which shows what they now have from their role and their extras.

What you will see

The new ability applies within seconds, without signing them out.

If something goes wrong

• Custom permissions only add. To remove something their role gives, change the role.
• If several people need the same exception, create a role for it instead; it is easier to review.
