Users & Roles

How do I reset someone's password?

Set a new password for a colleague, which signs them out of every device.

You will have given a colleague a new password and ended all their sessions.

Before you start

You need permission to manage users. If the person can still reach the sign-in page, they can reset it themselves with the Forgot password link instead.

Steps

  1. Open User Management and press Edit on the person's row.
  2. In the Change password card, enter a new password and confirm it.
  3. Save it.
  4. Tell the person the new password.

What you will see

The new password works immediately. The person is signed out of every device and has to sign in again.

If something goes wrong

  • Nothing is emailed; you must pass the password on yourself.
  • The password needs at least 8 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a digit and a symbol.
  • A deactivated account cannot use the Forgot password flow, and a protected account cannot be reset by a tenant administrator.
  • The Forgot password flow sends a 6-digit code that is valid for 5 minutes. The page answers the same way for any email, so nobody can use it to find out who has an account.
